Dying Matters Week

Dying Matters Week is a time for family, whānau, friends and communities across Aotearoa to come together and have the conversations that matter.

Talking about dying, death, grief and loss can feel difficult - and having these conversations early can help us feel more prepared, supported and connected.

Dying Matters Week offers safe and welcoming spaces to ask questions, share experiences and learn from local experts. It’s an opportunity to explore later-life and end-of-life planning, understand the support available, and find ways to care for ourselves and those we love.

Whether you’re thinking about the future, supporting a loved one, or living with grief and loss, Dying Matters Week is about connection, understanding and making space for the conversations that help us care for one another.

This year's nationwide programme includes: hands-on workshops and presentations from experts in end-of-life, grief and death-care, resources and information from local businesses, crematorium open days, curated collections of books on grief and dying, online events and podcasts, art and theatre, poetry and storytelling, DIY Funeral Workshops, Death Cafes and panel discussions.
