Meet Liz
Liz Adcock-White
Kia ora, I’m Liz and for as long as I can remember I have been interested in people and their life stages. My upbringing in the UK, Europe and Kuwait introduced me to difference, disability and dying. As a child I saw the impact of accidents and illness on family members and friends. Coming to adulthood, the end-of-life experiences of those I lived and worked amongst informed and shaped my knowledge - I carry an awareness that dying is a part of living and I believe that feelings of fear, mystery and disempowerment can be reduced. I further believe that with support we can become more conscious, understand the challenges of dying and that fulfilled living can prevail.

I have been involved in palliative care for many years both personally and professionally, formally and informally. My work includes community social work, disability assessment and support, working with paediatric HIV/AIDS in Romania, a decade of EPOA work supporting the mental health and palliative care needs of an elderly friend, and six years of voluntary palliative biography writing – recording memories, insights and pearls of wisdom from people in the last weeks of their lives.
After some serious soul-searching and further study, including a post-grad certificate, I made the decision to focus specifically on grief, loss and palliative support and established The Fifth Season in early 2022.
