Death Cafe 2026

Death Café North Canterbury offers a unique and supportive opportunity to talk openly about death and dying. These are relaxed, facilitated conversations with no set agenda, no presentations, and nothing for sale. Just people, honest kōrero, and cake. Death Cafés are part of a global movement, held in over 94 countries, with many happening across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Death Café North Canterbury is held in three local libraries: Kaiapoi is a great venue along the river, Rangiora in the lovely old part of the building, and Amberley opens especially for us on a Sunday. We meet at 2pm and get lost in discussion and cake until we close at 3.30pm, the vibe is often calm and thoughtful, our group size ranges from 2 to 12 which allows us to dig deeper into some interesting topics and themes.
