Aotearoa’s Inaugural Dying Matters Week will officially launch in New Zealand on the 5th August 2024 to support people to start conversations about death and dying, and to feel empowered to put end-of-life planning in place. Dying Matters Week has been created by a team of experts across Aotearoa to connect communities with talks, workshops, information and advice to begin what, for many, can often be very challenging conversations.
I am looking forward to hosting some events – a drop-in chat session and two talks called ‘An elephant in the room: talking about sad stuff’. My hope is to gently break open why we have such fear around this topic and offer tools to start these hard conversations. In this unique session, we’ll explore the often-taboo topic of death in an interactive way. Engage in activities and games that prompt learning and bring peace of mind to end of life planning. Discover surprising insights, laugh a little, and leave with a new perspective on life’s ultimate mystery. See gowithgrace.nz/dyingmatters/canterbury-events/
